What is Self-Storage?
Self-Storage is the provision of small, self-contained, lockable, storage units to individuals or businesses. Storage units can either be in a building or containers located on a site. The vast majority of self-storage space in the UK comprises rooms in either purpose built or converted buildings. Container storage offers the customer a cheaper and more convenient alternative to rooms.
Consumers and businesses increasingly turn to self-storage for a number of reasons.
For consumers these are primarily moving home, marriage or divorce and de-cluttering the home. For businesses, self-storage proves useful for storing file archives, stock or office equipment.
Self-Storage arrived in the UK in the early 1980s and today there are more than 800 facilities around the country. The industry continues to grow steadily in the UK and is proving to be resilient to the economic downturn. Public awareness of the industry is also contributing to its growth. The industry in the UK now generates revenues of about £355m per year and has over 250,000 customers.
Who We Are?
We own and manage two self-storage facilities on the south coast. We rent out shipping containers on each site to householders and local businesses requiring short term storage space. We have been operating for over 10 years. Please access the Our Sites page for more information on what we do.
